What an amazing project to be part of – and so excited to be able to finally share it!
After spending 12 days in the incredible Kimberley capturing footage and interviewing participants during the Program, we had some pretty intense sessions in the editing suite with the post-production team bringing this to life.
Being able to showcase Outback Initiatives in videos, and now their flagship program – The Kimberley Leadership Adventure, is a really exciting stage for AW Studio to get to with the Client after close to two years of working closely together on the rebrand transformation and the developing of new marketing material.
We're extremely excited to see the launch of the Outback Initiatives Women's Leadership Challenge Video as part of their rebranding !
With Social Media forming a large part of the marketing strategy for Outback Initiatives and the promotion of their Programs and Services, the development of video content is crucial.
Our gradual taking of opportunities to grab footage as real programs were run, eventually paid off ... allowing us to tell these real stories and first hand experiences of participants during and after the programs, setting them juxtaposed against action shots and some of the stunning 'outback' locations the programs are run.
An amazing number of people and talents came together to make this happen ... Creative Direction by AW Studio, footage by Farmhouse Films, Julian Masters, Tourism Western Australia and production by Sandbox, not to mention some huge effort client side – thanks Bonnie and Sheryll ... And last but by no means least, all the amazing faces in front of the camera!
After months of working through a full revamp of the House and Pet Sitters logo and marketing collateral ... we are thrilled to be launching the rebranded and redesigned responsive website.
Let us know what you think ... !
We're getting a little excited as we are only days away from launching the brand new House and Pet Sitters website sporting the new branding and photography ...

What are your corporate photos saying about you?
If you are investing in the marketing of your organisation, it might be worth taking the extra step to think about your photography ... and your team photos are worth the investment.
One of the first points of contact between you and your client will be your website or brochure ... and yes, those mugshots. Be sure the impression they leave – is a great one.
Just getting a professional photographer onboard isn't always the best move either.
If you are working with a creative team, make sure you work with your art-director who is not only familiar with your marketing collateral, but they will take your brand strategy and vision into consideration when planning the photo-shoot.
They might also be able to work additional 'shots' into the photo-shoot which you will be able to add to your photo-library and use across your future marketing collateral, reducing the need for you to do additional shoots – or being tempted to use stock-photography which only dilutes your brand in the long run.

We're thrilled for AW Studio to get a mention in the Perth College newsletter .. and even more fun to see some of the "beaming faces' of the real nymphs from the mural up next to their giant selves ...
"Feature wall is the final touch
An artwork on a grand scale has added the finishing touch to the transformation of the School swimming pool. Incorporating the theme of a fantasy underwater world, a 23m mural features the faces and illustrations of several girls in Years 4 and 9.
During the first stage of the project, students in the Year 9 Art class took underwater photographs of themselves and illustrated a series of castles. The Art department then commissioned local Graphic Designer, Aneta Wnek, to blend the drawings and images and finalise the mural. “A fantasy underwater world was created by introducing a dynamic, hand-drawn illustration suggesting elaborate seaweed, with just hints of some scales of a gigantic underwater creature,” Ms Wnek said.
“Being positioned in sight of the Art department, I also thought it would be nice to introduce the texture of giant paint strokes which would blend into the textures of the water, adding another surreal element to this fantasy world of the playful nymphs.
“The result is a feature wall that picks up on the colours of the surroundings—it seems to be rising out of the pool with a kaleidoscope of activity. “The mural is designed to stir the imagination but is also about friendships and fun.”
It is always fun seeing design transform from a bit of artwork to full-scale ...
I'm not a stranger to the Startup Weekend concept. When #SWP landed in perth two years ago, I leapt head first into the 54 hours of madness and the big unknown ... and as it turned out, I signed up to follow a random pitch by Kevin Brown, the mad Scotsman, who wanted to concoct a "Machine that predicts the future".
Looking around the room at some of the other completely plausible ideas pitched, this one was clearly MAD - we all knew this. But our collective openness to actually come together and see if we can make something of this and learn something along the way, meant we really did go through an extraordinary mind bending, (sleep deprived) experience ... and after the 54 crazed hours, we emerged as the now infamous 'Team Pivot' with an idea that evolved into something that wasn't that mad after all, actually raising a few curiosities amongst the judges, and in its fundamentals holding the principal of 'predicting the future' of fashion ... "SupermodelME".
No it didn't end up going anywhere, and that isn't always the point ... but the Startup Weekend Concept which is brought to Perth by Spacecubed, does in fact offer a unique environment for an innovative collective of Entrepreneurial brains to come together and CREATE.
This coming weekend I'm joining the madness from a different perspective – as a mentor.
I know how valuable mentors were to our team throughout the insane process. The reality is, that with the right guidance for some of these Entrepreneurs who seed ideas on the weekend, some really incredible things ARE possible in those 54 hours with the potential of sparking the beginnings to some huge success stories. I can't wait to see what emerges from this weekend ... so let the fun begin!
It's been a crazy couple of weeks for AW Studio – and one thing's for sure, helping to bring an Argentinian cult-hero to Melbourne and Perth on a charity tour within literally just a couple of weeks of organising, is no small task ... but it's thrilling to say that with the help of a truly dedicated team, the first two shows in Melbourne were packed and full of delighted audiences ... and now for phase 2 ... Perth Friday and Saturday nights!
If you love the infectious, passion of the Latin spirit and want to share in the journey of a truly remarkable man León Gieco, who's influence has seen him on stage with Peter Gabriel, U2, Sting and Bruce Springsteen, come along to the concerts.
If the response of the Melbourne crowd is anything to go by - it will be quite an experience, even if the you don't understand the lyrics, as one fan reviewed it last night ... "The most impressive thing is the humanness that Leon Gieco conveys with us .... Irrelevant of the language ... the power of the music was wonderful ... "

Here's a blog I wrote in my role as Creative Director at key2creative aiming to help shed light on the value for organisations in building their own quality photo resources – definitely food for thought for any business ...
"We all know ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’ – so why is it that so many organisations find it so challenging to justify building their own image resources?
The lure of easy access to photo libraries and phone cameras is often clouding the opportunity for companies to build their brands and tell their amazing stories through their own quality photography. It could be said that in many cases, these choices have actually undermined the valuable work these organisations do in the eyes of the consumers.
In the not-for-profit (NFP) sector, recent changes in legislation around ‘Consumer Directed Care’ have shifted the landscape, creating a very competitive market. This in turn, has fueled re-branding activities amongst these organisations. Interestingly, taking a closer look at the various marketing collateral produced across the sector, you will find that some of the smiling faces featured, can be found frequenting more than one of these facilities at the same time. How is that possible? How are the same images used across different organisations, communicating an authentic message to the public?
It has to be said that the delicate nature of some of the work NFPs do in our community, doesn’t always lend itself to being photographed or communicated through imagery easily ... but with a little planning, it can, and is, being done. Even if you don’t think you can afford a ‘photo shoot’, most organisations, during the course of a year, hold events or gatherings which present perfect opportunities for photography.
Building your image library doesn’t have to be an expensive exercise either, however, it is worth working with someone who knows what they are doing ... and if you are looking to get the most out of the photos you end up with in your branding and marketing collateral, it's worth engaging your creative agency and an art director before you start snapping.

You only get one opportunity to get the most out of an event or a photo-shoot. Your images will reflect the mood of not only your day but also the mood your photographer and the individuals directing the photography. With the right considerations, a collection of relevant, powerful images can kick start your organisation’s photo library, marketing material and campaigns.
Images can transform the perception of your organisation by communicating the unique story of your people and who you are – so isn't it worth doing well?"
I'm sure I'm not alone is saying this:
"I swear the hardest things to design - are the things for myself !"
But my long awaited business cards have just been delivered and they look fabulous on their uncoated stock with the spot varnish coming out just the way I'd hoped .. so now to put them to good use ...

A language school with a difference, Oniria are a fabulously engaging organisation that really immerse their students and the local communitiy in not just the Spanish and Portuguese languages, but the actual latin culture by sponsoring local events and international expeditions.
